KRASNODAR, August 30 (Itar-Tass) — Over three billion roubles will be provided to Kuban in 2013 to prevent floods, Governor Alexander Tkachev said.

During the trip to the settlement of Novomikhailovsky, Tuapse district, on Thursday, Tkachev said the key task was to clean up river channels to prevent the water from taking human lives and destroying houses. “It is necessary to clean up rivers,” Tkachev stressed.

Krasnodar Territory will spend 50 million roubles this year to clean up rivers in the settlement of Novomikhailovsky. Next year “we are expected to spend three billion roubles. Krasnodar Territory has never spent such money due to federal financial backing”, the governor said.

Two years ago the settlement of Novomikhailovsky coped with the consequences of mountain rivers overflow. It is clear that local residents compare the rescue and recovery operation with the same work in 2010. This time residents do not hide their assessment: day and night waterlogged areas are being provided assistance. Compensations have begun paying very quickly.

Since the first moments of the flood residents of the Novomikhailovsky settlement have started receiving all necessary assistance: medical, humanitarian and psychological.

Volunteers also help clean up houses and yards from mud and truck damaged furniture. In order to not reload narrow streets of the settlement by heavy hardware garbage is being taken away at night. A total of 1,500 people are involve to cope with the consequences of the flood.
