KHABAROVSK, August 30 (Itar-Tass) — Typhoon Bolaven has blocked the operation of the Vanino-Sakhalin sea ferry service. All ferries are in bays near the port of Vanino. The crews are awaiting an improvement of weather conditions and cessation of the storm in the Tartary Strait, an officer on duty at the control room of the ferry service told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Weathermen report that it is raining in the zone of Tartary Strait and Sakhalin area. Wind velocity will increae up to 25 metres per second on Thursday afternoon. The height of waves in the Strait is already more than four metres. The storm is gaining in strength.
