MOSCOW, August 29 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom will invest six billion roubles (USD 1 = RUB 32.09) in the development of the Republic of Karelia’s gas supply and distribution network in the next three years, Head of the Republic Alexander Khudilainen told reporters.
In his words, the talks with Gazprom have lasted since May in order to sign an agreement in September.
“In the format of the agreement, Gazprom will assign six billion roubles for the development of gas supply and distribution network in the Northern Ladoga territories [the Republic of Karelia] and two billion roubles more for the development of the social infrastructure in the area,” the governor said.
In the all previous years, 800 million roubles were invested in the development of the gas network in the republic, he reaffirmed. The current assistance will allow the republic to settle the energy independence problem and to raise its investment attractiveness, Khudilainen said.
