Putin to present State awards to 54 persons in Kremlin

MOSCOW, August 29 (Itar-Tass) — President Vladimir Putin is to present State awards to 54 outstanding persons of Russia at a ceremony in the Kremlin here on Wednesday. The ceremony will traditionally take place in the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin's Building One. Pilot-cosmonauts, military officers, cultural figures, science professionals, and best-in-professios workers are to be present at the ceremony.

The title of Hero of the Russian Federation and the honorary title of Pilot-Cosmonaut of the RF are to be awarded to Andrei Borisenko and Alexander Samokutyayev, test cosmonauts of the Research Testing Center.

The Gold Star of Hero of Russia is also to be presented to Artyom Katunkin, non-commissioned officer of a special-puppose unit of the of RF Interior Ministry troops "for personal courage, valour, and heroism displayed in the performance of military duty under conditions bearing a risk to one's life" in January 2012 during a special operation in Dagestan.

People's Artist of the USSR Iosif Kobzon, Member of the State Duma, will be decorated with the Order "For Services to the Fatherland", 1st Class, for a great contribution to legislative activities and to the development of culture.

The Order "For Services to the Fatherland, 2nd Class, is to be presented to Boris Eifman, artistic director of the St. Petersburg Ballet Art Theatre.

The Order "For Services to the Fatherland, 3rd Class, is to be presented to Mikhail Vinokurov, Rector of the Baikalsk State University of Economics and Law, and Vladimir Porkhanov, Head Physician at the Krasnodar Territorial Clinical Hospital 1 named after Professor S.V. Ochapovsky.

Another eight persons are to be decorated with the Order "For Services to the Fatherland, 4th Class. Scriptwriter Eduard Volodarsky, composer Gennady Gladkov, and Mosfilm General Director Karen Shakhnazarov will be among awardees.

The Order of Great Woman Martyr Catherine is to be presented to Mother Superior Nikolaya (Lyudmila Ilyina in the world) of the St Nicholas Chernoostrovsky (black island) Convent in the city of Maloyaroslavets, Kaluga bishopric of the Russian Orthodox Church, for a great contribution to charitable and social activities.

Nineteen persons have been awarded the Order of Honour. These include sculptor Alexander Burganov, Vladislav Yerokhin, Director of the Central Tuberculosis Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Leonid Koshcheyev, an agglomerant of the sintering mill of the Severstal CompanyLtd, Merited Master of Sports Igor Kravchuk, an ice hockey player, Vyacheslav Poltavtsev, deputy general director Norilsk Nickel mining company, and Yuri Igolnikov, an excavator operator of the Cherogorsky quarry of the SUEK-Khakassia Company Ltd.

The Order of Friendship is to be presented to six persons, among them Yevgeny Velikhov, president of the Russian scientific center Kurchatov Institute, and Genrietta Yanovskaya, Chief Reigisseur of the Moscow theatre for young audiences.

President Putin is also to present decorations "For Beneficence" and certificates conferring the honorary titles Merited Science Professional, Merited Test Pilot, Merited Metallurgist, Merited Worker of the Housing/Utilities Sector, Merited Worker of the Oil and Gas Industry, Merited Worker of Agriculture, Merited Builder builder, and Merited Mineworker of the RF.
