Four militants killed in police operation in Malgobek district of Ingushetia

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov asked residents of the republic not to fall for provocations

NAZRAN, August 28 (Itar-Tass) — Four militants were killed in a police operation in the Malgobek district of Ingushetia, the republican police told Itar-Tass.

Earlier reports said three militants were dead and two were apprehended. “One of the detainees was wearing a Shaheed suicide bomber belt equivalent to eight kilograms of TNT,” the source said. The police operation continues.

In the words of Ingushetia head Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the militants were involved in the August 19 terror attack, which killed policemen attending a burial in Sagopshi.

The dead militants have been identified as Ilez Merzhoyev, Ibragim Bekbuzarov and Adrakhim Kurskiyev.

“Everyone related to this terrorist act and other crimes in the republic will be caught sooner or later. Those who do not listen to the reasoning will be destroyed,” Yevkurov said. He asked residents of the republic not to fall for provocations. “Do not listen to the families of detained and killed militants who claim their children are innocent. I tell everyone involved in this and other crimes: use the chance we give you – come and surrender,” he said.

Eight police officers died and 15 were hurt in the Sagopshi explosion on August 19.
