MOSCOW, August 28 (Itar-Tass) — The defense of convicted members of the Pussy Riot punk group on Monday appealed against a judgement passed by the court of the Moscow Khamovniki district, lawyer Violetta Volkova told Itar-Tass.
“We asked them to quash the sentence and end prosecution of our clients,” she said.
On August 17, the court of the Moscow Khamovniki district found Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich guilty of hooliganism on motives of religious hatred.
Judge Marina Syrova sentenced each young woman to two years in prison in a general regime penal colony.
