MINSK, August 27 (Itar-Tass) — President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Andrei Kobyakov as chief of staff, the presidential press service reported on Monday.

Kobyakov was born in Moscow in 1960. He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Belarusian State Economic University, the Political Science and Social Management Institute of the Communist Party of Belarus. He worked as foreman of the machine assembly department at one of the Minsk factories. In 1990’s he took responsible positions in the republic’s supervisory bodies.

In December 2010 Kobyakov was appointed deputy chief of staff. From November 2011 he was Belarusian ambassador to Russia.
