VLADIVOSTOK, August 27 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Interior Ministry is ready for the APEC summit that Vladivostok will host in September, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said during a trip to Vladivostok ahead of the summit.
The minister has inspected the readiness of all forces and police units for ensuring security of the international forum. All in all about 10,000 policemen and interior troops, 11 boats, six helicopters, two drones will ensure security at the Vladivostok summit. The minister also stressed that policemen working in the high alert regime would be remunerated after the summit.
During his trip Kolokoltsev examined the new terminal of Knevichi airport, where he unveiled new police premises. He stressed that over 230 transport police, including specialists with sniffer dogs, will work at the airport daily during the summit. Two investigation brigades will be on standby.
“We have checked the functioning of security systems of the airport’s international terminal,” he said. “Everything is ready for the guests. We also familiarized ourselves with the installed high-tech equipment and CCTV systems,” he added.
The minister stressed that airport systems meet the strictest world standards and requirements. In particular, about 300 CCTV systems, 30 metal bars and other technical means have been installed in the air terminal.
Kolokoltsev also made a trip on a Mangust high-speed patrol boat. During the summit the boat will perform routine tasks of transport police to ensure law and order. After the summit it will be used to fight poachers.
