MOSCOW, August 27 (Itar-Tass) — A large-scale command staff exercise begins in Russia’s Eastern Military District Monday, the chief press officer of the district, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Gordeyev told Itar-Tass.
“Maneuvers are held at the level of an integrated combined arms formation, which is deployed in the Amur region, and in spite of their status of command-staff ones they envision deployment of armed units on the terrain,” Lt Col Gordeyev said.
One of the objectives of the exercise is to simulate combat operations in a situation where the potential enemy uses high-precision weaponry and electromagnetic warfare devices.
“A unit of mechanized infantry will also drill combat actions in a situation where reconnaissance and subversion groups of the enemy land in a designated area,” Lt Col Gordeyev said.
