DPRK to undertake resolute rebuff responding US, Korean provocations – Kim Jong Un

The leader said he had “studied and approved a plan already”

PYONGYANG, August 26 (Itar-Tass) —— The provocative actions of the United States of America and South Korea, including the current Ulji Freedom Guardian military exercises, deserve most serious conviction, the DPRK’s leader Kim Jong Un told a banquet organised in celebration of the 52nd anniversary of beginning of the Songun (Military First) policies, launched by Kim Jong Il.

“If even one shell of the enemy falls in the waters or on the ground of the DPRK, the Korean People’s Army will launch a counteroffensive and will finalise the great unification of the Fatherland,” Kim Jong Un said.

The leader said he had “studied and approved a plan already,” and soldiers and officers are waiting for a final command in order to “start the mortal combat with the US and the forces of the South Korean regime.”

“Our position is to react immediately to the aggressive actions from their side with a war for unification of the Fatherland,” he said. “We are not going to watch passively the aggressive actions of the enemy and will undertake all necessary measures to protect our sovereignty.”

The KCNA reported on Sunday that the banquet was organised during the country leader’s inspection trip to a part of the Eastern front.

Earlier, head of the military mission of the Korean People’s Army /KPA/ in the demilitarised zone forwarded a note of protest to commander of the US troops in South Korea.

The situation in the Korean Peninsula, it read, “has reached the peak tension because of the military manoeuvres against the DPRK, which are being organised permanently in various parts of South Korea.” The basic objective “of the American imperialists and of the puppet regime of South Korea is to seize by armed methods the DPRK at any cost,” North Korea’s head of the military mission said.

The KCNA considers the upcoming manoeuvres of the US and South Korea a practice of “the tactics of a nuclear attack.” Washington and Seoul “have been maturing the plans to intrude into the territory of the DPRK and with this purpose are ready to unleash a new war in the Korean Peninsula,” the agency’s comment reads.

The Ulji Freedom Guardian military exercises are due between August 20 and 31, Seoul announced. The exercises will involve 56,000 South Korean and about 30,000 American military.
