KRASNODAR, southern Russia, August 26 (Itar-Tass) — Children who have fallen ill at the All-Russian “Orlyonok” children’s center are in the care of doctors, Valery Klindukhov, the head of the regional branch of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Protection of Consumers’ Rights and Human Welfare, told Itar-Tass.
“A group of 15 children complaining of general weakness, a sore throat and intestinal disorder turned to doctors for help last night,” Klindukhov said. All of them were diagnosed to have acute respiratory disease with an intestinal syndrome.
“All the children are undergoing treatment in the camp’s infirmary. Four children are in condition of moderate gravity. The rest are lightly ill,” Klindukhov explained.
A set of preventive measures has been launched in the camp. Laboratory tests are being taken in the canteen and in the kitchen; the territory and the staff are being examined.
According to Alexander Dzheus, the general director of the Orlyonok camp, all the ill children had rest at the Zvyozdnyi camp. They have gone on excursions, including to Krasnodar, in the past few days.
