New border patrol vessel come on service in Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, August 26 (Itar-Tass) — A new border patrol boat will come on service in Vladivostok ahead of the APEC summit scheduled for September, the press service of the border department of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Primorye region said on Sunday.

The boat with board number 602 can develop a speed of over 40 knots. Its water displacement is almost seven tons; seaworthiness is 5 points. The vessel has a ten-member crew and is equipped with a 14.5 –mm sea machine-gun mounting. It will join a squadron of coast guard ships that will guard security during the forthcoming APEC summit early in September.

The patrol boat was designed and built by the St.Petersburg-based company Almaz. The crew showed high professional skills during the ship’s test trials, the press service went on to say.
