The plane will stay in Serbia till September 15 as the Ka-32 helicopter, which arrived in Serbia on August 7

BELGRADE, August 25 (Itar-Tass) — The Be-200 plane of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has arrived at Nis’ airport of Constantine the Great to help fight forest fires.

According to chief of the Serbian Interior Ministry’s emergencies department Predrag Maric, the Be-200 plane can join the fight against forest fires. The plane will stay in Serbia till September 15 as the Ka-32 helicopter, which arrived in Serbia on August 7. Both aircraft will take part in the Batajnica International Air Show scheduled for September 1-2 and conduct demonstration exercises near the town of Prokuplje.

The plane and the helicopter are deployed in Nis in compliance with the inter-governmental agreement between Russia and Serbia to jointly react to emergency situations, warning and coping with the consequences of disasters and technogenic catastrophes. To this end, the joint humanitarian centre was opened in Nis in the spring.

The weather is now abnormally hot in Serbia and neighbouring countries. Such weather facilitated forest fires.
