MOSCOW, August 25 (Itar-Tass) — Moslem animated cartoons will appear soon in Russia and they help create a positive image of Islam, the chairman of the Russian Muftis Council, Ravil Gainutdin, said.
Speaking at the 4th congress of the Russian Muftis Council on Saturday, Gainutdin said, “In order to cooperate with the public we are planning to produce a series of Moslem animated cartoons, programmes for the radio and television, as well as different applications for smartphones.”
To this end, the Russian Muftis Council takes a more active part in social networks. “At present, over 35,000 users are in the VKontakte social networking website,” Gainutdin said, adding that a renovated portal of the Russian Muftis Council had been presented.
According to the mufti, “over 10 thematic websites, including on the Islamic economy, on the social and charity activity and on international relations, are placed on the Internet.”
In addition, in order to develop contacts with mass media and create an objective image of Islam and Moslems, “we are planning to organise informal meetings with representatives of federal mass media. Today a note to a journalist for respecting the feelings of Moslem believers has been presented”, Gainutdin said.
