MAKHACHKALA, August 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Two militants were destroyed in the village of Shamkhal near Makhachkala as a result of armed resistance. As ITAR-TASS learnt the republican Interior Ministry, “overnight to Saturday unidentified people opened fire from the VAZ-2110 car at law enforcers when they tried to spot it at the corner of Levanevsky and Batyrai Streets.

According to the ministry, two criminals were killed in return fire, their identity is being established. There are no victims among police officers. Two AKS-74 submachine-guns and more than 70 cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber were found at the site of the incident.

Criminal proceedings were instituted.
