Heavy machinery has been dispatched to the affected areas to repair washed out roads

VLADIVOSTOK, August 24 (Itar-Tass) — Mountain rivers that have burst their banks as a result of heavy rains have destroyed more than 10 bridges in the Partizansky district of the Primorye Territory. Flood waters continue to threaten several other important bridges in the district; many uprooted trees, which clogged passages under the bridges, have been brought by the water. The rivers have changed their course bypassing the obstacle, have washed out roads and now are washing away bridge supports, the administration of the Partizansky district reported.

The flooding has inflicted major damage on agriculture - washing away 400 hectares of plantations of potato, corn and various grain crops.

The district head Konstantin Shcherbakov has started out for the most affected households to assess the damage from the natural calamity and take measures to restore their normal activity.

Heavy machinery has been dispatched to the affected areas to repair washed out roads, the question of rebuilding the destroyed bridges is being decided.

However, the weather is sunny and dry in the Partizansky district on Friday.
