Earlier, the case was opened under Article 317 of Russia' penal code /"attempted murder of law-enforcement personnel"/, Article 105, Part 2 /"murder of two or more persons committed by publicly dangerous method/ and Article 222 /"illegal turnover of weapons/.
On August 18, unidentified persons fired at a VAZ-2107 carrying district police officer Ilez Korigov, 26, in the yard of a multi-storey apartment hose in Oskanov Street, Malgobek. He died of his wounds in hospital.
The next day, when police arrived at the Ingush village of Sagopshi for the funeral of their colleague, a suicide bomber approached them and blasted himself, killing seven policemen and injuring another 15.
