KAZAN, August 22 (Itar-Tass) — A commission of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), led by FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond, arrives here on Wednesday for a four-day visit to inspect the readiness of the city for hosting the 2013 World Student Games (WSG), a source at the media department of the "Kazan-2013" executive office told Itar-Tass.
"The delegation will consider matters aimed at holding a regular session of the FISU Executive Committee in Kazan. It is planned to discuss the course of preparation for an extraordinary session of the FISU General Assembly which is to mull introducing amendments to the FISU Constitution," the source said.
The FISU delegates also intend to approve a programme for a FISU GALA, or the honouring of the best national student sports federations. According to preliminary data, the leaders of national university sports federations from 150 countries are to arrive here to take part in the ceremony which is to be held in the capital of Tatarstan in September.
The FISU delegation jointly with the leadership of Tatarstan and the Kazan-2013 executive office will consider matters concerning the broadcasting of the FISU GALA ceremony via Eurosport channels.
The WSG will be held here from July 6 to 17, 2013, in27 sports. About 13,000 athletes from over 170 countries will participate in them.
