Fourth 5th-generation fighter jet to start tests this year

The first prototype [T-50-1] is almost ready for beyond-stall angles of attack and super-maneuverability tests

MOSCOW, August 21 (Itar-Tass) — The fourth prototype of the fifth-generation fighter jet will join the tests this year, Sukhoi Company told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“The first prototype [T-50-1] is almost ready for beyond-stall angles of attack and super-maneuverability tests. The second [T-50-2] is being tested for steadiness, controllability and durability in a broad range of subsonic and supersonic flight modes of various configurations. The third [T-50-3] started testing a radar station with an active phased array antenna,” the company said.

“The radar station with an active phased array antenna will detect the enemy on a longer range, both on land and in the air, identify single targets and groups of targets and provide simultaneous destruction of several targets with high-precision weapons and communication and radio-electronic jamming,” it said.
