MOSCOW, August 21 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and China agree that any actions in circumvention of the United Nations rules are impermissible, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo on Tuesday.
“Within the framework of foreign policy coordination Russia and China have very reliable criteria with which we measure all our steps,” the minister said. “This is the need to strictly comply with the norms of international law and not to violate the principles inscribed in the UN Charter.”
“This is the only right way in modern conditions,” Lavrov said underlining that he would discuss with Dai Bingguo international problems. “Now this is rather important.”
On Monday the US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland announced that Washington still planned to act in circumvention of the UN Security Council’s decisions on Syria, as it doubted that the Security Council would manage to reach a consensus on the crisis settlement.
