Over 3,500 police to ensure security at Spartak-Fenerbahce match

MOSCOW, August 21 (Itar-Tass) — Over 3.5 thousand police and Interior Ministry troops will ensure law and order at the Spartak (Moscow) – Fenerbahce (Istanbul) football match in the RF capital.

The UEFA Champions League football qualifying match will be held at 20:00 MSK at the Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki sports complex on Tuesday.

The press service of the Special Forces Centre of the Russian Interior Ministry’s main department for Moscow told Itar-Tass that the administration of the stadium expects that up 60 thousand fans will attend the game.

“More than 2.2 thousand law enforcement officers, including 412 officers of the Special Forces Centre of the Russian Interior Ministry’s main department for Moscow and 1.2 thousand officers of the RF Interior Troops will be engaged in ensuring security at the Luzhniki stadium,” the press service said.

It noted that on the eve of the match the stadium and its surroundings were examined by specialists with sniffer dogs. The spectators will be admitted to the stadium through the metals detecting archways. Fans who are in a state of intoxication will not be admitted to the stadium.

The operational public order headquarters have been set up for control of the law enforcers’ actions.

Police reserve groups will be on in the centre of Moscow on the day of the match. In addition, the patrol routes in the city will be maximally close to the sports bars, in which the match will be shown, the Special Forces Centre said.
