Over 900 volunteers to welcome guests of APEC summit in Vladivostok

Every volunteer will be wearing a uniform, and will have a telephone, where the cell communication will be free

VLADIVOSTOK, August 20 (Itar-Tass) — Over 900 volunteers from various regions of the country will welcome guests of the APEC summit in Vladivostok.

The first group of 300 volunteers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chita, Astrakhan, Chelyabinsk, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk and from cities of the Maritime Territory has started training at Vladivostok’s University of Economics and Service. The students will study etiquette, the English language and history of Vladivostok and the summit’s facilities. The training programme includes final tests, and the volunteers will be distributed according to the test results.

The second group of about 600 representatives of Buryatia, Kazan and of Sochi’s training centre are expected to arrive in Vladivostok between 27 and 31 of August, the youth policy department of the Maritime Territory said.

The volunteers will be welcoming guests of the summit, they will accompany delegations, run sightseeing tours and will work as interpreters. Every volunteer will be wearing a uniform, and will have a telephone, where the cell communication will be free.

“Best volunteers will have a right to go to Kazan’s Student Games in 2013 and to Sochi’s Olympic Games in 2014,” the source said.

The summit of APEC will be organised in Russky Island in the territory of the Far East Federal University campus in early September. About 10,000 guests are expected to visit Vladivostok.
