Fifteen people killed, 22 injured in Kazakhstan’s road accident

ASTANA, August 20 (Itar-Tass) — Fifteen people were killed and another 22 were injured in a road accident in northern Kazakhstan, the republic’s Emergencies Ministry told Itar-Tass on Monday.

A commuter bus collided with a lorry and a car near the village of Babatai, Kazakhstan’s Akmola Province, on the Almaty-Yekaterinburg highway at 21:21 local time (19:21 Moscow time) on Sunday.

The bus with 31 passengers crashed en route from Astana to Karaganda.

As a result, the bus’s driver and 14 passengers, including one child, died at the site of the accident, another 22 people with different injured were hospitalized.

The accident is being investigated.
