MOSCOW, August 19 (Itar-Tass) — On Monday, August 20, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will have a meeting with representatives of the national coal and mining industries, the presidential press service said on Sunday.
Over 500 representatives of coal and mining companies, scientists and veterans of the sector are invited to the Kremlin on the eve of the Day of Miner. Putin had a video conference call with miners working in the Kemerovo region, in Norilsk and Yakutia.
Russia celebrates the Day of Minor on the last Sunday of August, and this year it will be on the 26th, however, festive activities in various regions will start from the beginning of the coming week.
Presently, the share of Russia’s coal and mining industries in the world makes 9.7 percent. Russia ranks third after the United States and China. Over past ten years, production of coal grew by a quarter: in 2011 it reached about 340 million tonnes.
