LONDON, August 16 (Itar-Tass) — An Aeroflot flight New York- Moscow has made an emergency landing in Iceland following information about a bomb planted on board, a Russian diplomat from the Russian embassy in Reykjavik told Itar-Tass by telephone. Emergency and ambulance brigades arrived to meet the plane on the runway at an international airport in Keflavik. The flight had 253 passengers on board. All of them are safe and have been waiting in the airport building,
The plane landed safely. Security services have been searching the plane, including luggage.
Russian diplomats have gone to the airport to help the flight passengers who were on the way to Moscow.
The Russian Aeroflot airline has confirmed that the news about the bomb planted on board came to New York police when the plane was already in the air. The chief pilot of the Aeroflot plane made a decision to make an emergency landing in Keflavik.
The overall number of people on board was 256, specified reports said.
