Silver and bronze Olympic medalists awarded in Kremlin

Almost four dozens athletes were awarded medals to the Russian Order of Merit of the First degree

MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) — Chief of the administration of the Russian president Sergei Ivanov has awarded state awards to a group of silver and bronze medalists of the 30th Olympic Games which ended in London. The victory ceremony was held in the Grand Kremlin Palace.

Almost four dozens athletes were awarded medals to the Russian Order of Merit of the First degree. The laureates are Olympic prize winner in fencing Sofia Velikaya, gymnasts Darja Dmitriyeva and Viktoria Komova, swimmer Yevgeny Korotyshkin, an Olympic medalist in track-and- field athletics Olga Kaniskina.

Sergei Ivanov handed in medals to the Order of Merit of the Second degree to 37 more Olympic medalists, including Russian pole vault queen Yelena Isinbayeva and Andrei Kililenko - one of the best players in the Russian basketball team. Sergei Ivanov also handed in the Order of Friendship to an instructor in track-and- field athletics Natalia Nazarova.
