MAKHACHKALA, August 15 (Itar-Tass) — A policeman has been wounded in a shootout in Kizilyurt, Dagestan.
The republic’s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass that “about 23:05 MSK on Tuesday three unknown men at the intersection of Vishnevsky and Stroiteley Streets at gunpoint tied up with an adhesive tape the driver of a VAZ-2110 car he used as a private taxi and put him on the back seat.” According to the ministry, after that the criminals opened fire from automatic weapons at a police car when a police patrol crew tried to stop them.
A police officer got a gunshot wound in the left thigh in the shootout, he was rushed to hospital. During the search operation the stolen VAZ-2110 car with the tied driver inside was found on the outskirts of Kizilyurt. Policemen found in the car an assault rifle magazine with 30 rounds, as well as blood, indicating that one of the criminals was wounded by the police retaliatory fire.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted over the incident and measures for tracking down the attackers have been taken.
