NIKOLA VILLAGE, Irkutsk region, August 14 (Itar-Tass) — The forest fire situation in Siberia has been resolved with the minimal losses, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov said after a conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Ministry’s Search-and-Rescue Service on Tuesday.
“The situation was complicated in Siberia, yet we managed to protect residential areas and economic sites. People did experience some problems – the smoke,” he said. “On the whole, we have resolved the natural emergency with the minimal losses.”
The forest fire rate was the highest in the Tomsk region, the Krasnoyarsk territory, Yakutia and the Khanty-Mansi autonomous district.
“There are wildfire problems in the Urals now,” Puchkov said, adding that the Ministry was in control.
