MOSCOW, August 13 (Itar-Tass) — Most respondents of Apsheron (82 percent), the administrative centre in Krasnodar Territory, where the Lagonaki resort is planning to be built, have supported the construction of the highland recreational tourist facility in their district, the press service of North Caucasus Resorts Company told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“The respondents explained their position by the fact that the project would create new jobs for local residents, increase revenues of the regional budget, help meet living standards, stimulate housing and commodity amenities and the road infrastructure on the territory of the future resort and in the administrative centre,” the press service said.
Only 8 percent of respondents come against the construction of this resort in their district. “They conditioned their apprehensions by the deterioration of the environment on the Lagonaki plateau. But most of respondents (54 percents) are liable to the construction of the highland recreational facility on the territory of the Caucasian Reserve under strict compliance of ‘green standards’ of the construction,” the press service said.
According to North Caucasus Resorts Company, only 10 percent of respondents were undecided by determining their attitude towards the project. A total of 61 percent of Apsheron residents were informed on the plans for building the Lagonaki resort. The opinion poll was conducted by means of semi-formalised interview with the involvement of 100 people – residents of the administrative capital of the Apsheron district aged between 18 and 75 years.
The project is part of the tourist cluster in Russian South. It is realised on the territories of the Apsheron district, Krasnodar Territory, and the Maikop district, the Republic of Adygeya.
The square of the resort will be 38,000 hectares. A total of 270 kilometres of pistes will be laid. Fifty-five lifts will be built. The capacity will reach 25,000 people per day. Hotels will have 14,700 rooms and the season will last 180 days.
