Bridge across Zolotoy Rog in Vladivostok opened for all vehicles

The bridge was commissioned at a festive ceremony on August 11

VLADIVOSTOK, August 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The cable bridge across the Zolotoy Rog Bay was opened for all types of vehicles here on Monday.

This fact immediately improved the traffic situation in the Primorsky capital, as now the drivers spend just a few minutes to drive from one district to another one, whereas this way took several hours sometimes before.

The bridge was commissioned at a festive ceremony on August 11, but was used for pedestrians for the past two days, and the latter could walk on it and take pictures. Tens of thousands of city residents took advantage of this opportunity.

The cable bridge across the Zolotoy Rog Bay is a facility, which had been built by an APEC summit in Vladivostok. Along with the bridge to the Russky Island this cable bridge will be the backbone of a new Vladivostok traffic system. Although according to its parameters it cedes to the bridge across the Bosporus Vostochny Strait, it is the fifth world largest bridge. The bridge is almost 1,400 metres long with the main span of 737 metres. The 226-meter-high pylons are supporting the motorway at the height of 60 metres above the sea level. The bridge connected the centre of Vladivostok and the Pervomaysky district of the city.
