LONDON, August 12 (Itar-Tass) — German Gref, the president and chairman of the board of control of Sberbank, Russia’s leading savings bank, told journalists on Saturday that Russia could learn a lot from the organizers of the London-2012 Olympic Games.
“I’ve been to all previous Olympic Games and I would like to say that I’ve never seen such a high level of organization as in London. There is what we can learn from the games’ organizers, primarily in terms of security. A lot of policemen is around but their presence is invisible. They don’t get in the way and don’t create discomfort,” Gref, who visited the Russia.Sochi. Park Hospitality House in the Kensington Gardens, said on Saturday.
“Policemen are highly trained. They are exceptionally and emphatically polite,” the Sberbank chief went on to say. He also drew attention to exceptional trained and disciplined auxiliary staff who works at the Olympic facilities.
“I understand how hard it was to train so many people, and we should give credit to Britons for doing that on a very high level. I’ve never seen anything like that before,” Gref emphasized.
He said that despite the fact that everything went well at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, London had overdone Beijing in terms of organizing traffic and solving logistics problems.
“There are no traffic jams, the city is living, the city is moving. The organization of transport is just unique,” Gref observed. No logjams can be seen even when hundreds of thousands of spectators are leaving the Olympic facilities.
He called on Russian law enforcers to study and learn London’s experience.
