MOSCOW, August 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday will attend the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Russian Air Force, the Kremlin’s press-service has said.
Taking part in the event will be all of Russia’s aerobatics groups and also their counterparts from Britain, Latvia, Turkey, France, Poland, Finland, the United States, Israel and Italy. Some vintage planes will make demonstration flights.
When he visited the 393rd air base in the Krasnodar Territory last June, Putin held a special conference devoted to preparations for celebrating the 100th anniversary of Russia’s Air Force. He set the task of raising the prestige of flight, engineering and technical professions, stepping up enlightenment projects and programs for popularizing national aviation.
Putin pointed to the need for building up the capabilities of strategic, front-line and military transport aviation to enable it to cope with missions outside the country within the framework of allied operations. Putin also emphasized the importance of ensuring the arms manufacturing enterprises should execute the defense contract with high quality, on time and at economically reasonable prices.
The Russian Defense Ministry this year introduced the jubilee medal 100 Years of the Air Force for decorating military and civilian personnel of the Air Force for impeccable compliance with service duties and high professional achievements.
