Suspected organizers of attack on Tatarstan mufti wanted

Radical Islamists Robert Valeyev and Rais Mingaleyev are wanted on suspicion of felonies – murders and a terror attack

KAZAN, August 10 (Itar-Tass) — Suspected organizers of the terror attack on Tatarstan Muslim Department Chairman, Mufti Ildus Faizov and the murder of Tatarstan Muslim Department training division head Valiulla Yakupov have been identified and put on the wanted list, the republican police told Itar-Tass on Friday.

Radical Islamists Robert Valeyev and Rais Mingaleyev, both born in 1976, are wanted on suspicion of felonies – murders and a terror attack, the police said. They may be armed, the report added.

Yakupov, 48, was killed in Kazan in the morning of July 19. The assailant fired several rounds at Yakupov on the staircase of his house on Zarya Street. Wounded Yakupov went outdoors and died in his car.

The car of Faizov was blasted on the Chetayev Street 30 minutes later. He was injured and taken to the hospital.

Criminal cases were opened on the charges of killing a person in the line of duty, attempted killing and terror attack. Seven suspects have been detained in this case.
