GORKI, August 10 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has pledged that promoting active housing construction and improving people’s housing conditions are still top-priority tasks for the Russian government.

“Conditions for active housing construction, and improvement of housing conditions for people are and will be a state priority,” Medvedev said on Friday at a government meeting dedicated to problems of housing construction.

The national project Affordable Housing has been implemented since 2006, he noted. Over the six years, a considerable normative base has been formed, a number of institutions, such as the fund for promoting the development of the housing and utilities sector development and the fund for encouraging housing construction, have been set up. Apart from that, a fresh impetus has been given to the mortgage crediting agency.

But despite these measures, according to the prime minister, the improvement of housing conditions remains a topical subject.
