MOSCOW, August 9 (Itar-Tass) — Police have prevented the plundering of 8 billion rubles earmarked for the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on Thursday.
“The suspects, including the heads of commercial organizations, tried to steal 8 billion rubles by exaggerating the estimates for the construction of two sport facilities. Two criminal lawsuits have been filed on charges of attempted fraud,” the Interior Ministry went on to say.
The police actions have prevented damage to the federal budget.
