GROZNY, August 9 (Itar-Tass) — Chechen police seized almost three kilograms of heroin, a record haul for the republic, the press service of the republic's Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass. The narcotics were seized during the Mak-2012 operation in the Shelkovskoi district.

"Police detained a local resident in the village of Shchelkovskaya as they were checking a tip. The resident, aged 41, had three kilograms of heroin on her. The narcotic was confiscated," the Interior Ministry said.

The detainee said she had collected the drugs at the request of her acquaintance from a car parked near a bus terminal under construction, and had to pass them to him later. Police ascertained that the car was wanted by Moscow police. The cost of the seized batch of heroin in the "black market" is estimated at six to seven million roubles.
