MOSCOW, August 8 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Sergei Mitin acting governor of northwestern Novgorod region, the Kremlin press service reported on Wednesday.
According to the press service, the president signed a decree to this effect because Mitin’s term as Novgorod region governor expired on August 7. He will be acting governor until a new governor comes to office after gubernatorial elections appointed by the regional legislature on October 14, 2012.
Mitin has been Novgorod region governor since 2007.
