Crown fire reported from pine forest in Rostov region

According to preliminary information, there is no threat to populated localities

MOSCOW, August 8 (Itar-Tass) — A big crown fire has been reported in Russia’s southern Rostov region, a spokesman for the regional emergencies administration told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“A fire in a pine forest in the Verkhnedonskoi district was reported at 18:40 Moscow time. The fire spread to crowns of the trees on an area of ten hectares,” the spokesman said.

Fire fighting operations involve 70 men and 17 fire vehicles.

“According to preliminary information, there is no threat to populated localities,” the spokesman added.
