MOSCOW, August 8 (Itar-Tass) —— U.S. singer Madonna called for setting free Pussy Riot punk band members from the stage of Moscow’s Olympiysky Center on Tuesday. She made a rather long speech in the middle of her performance.
Madonna thanked her Russian fans and said she would sing a freedom song but wanted to say a few words before that. She said people standing behind her on the stage came from various countries, the U.S., the UK and Russia, and some were Jewish and some French but they all stayed together and all that mattered was to have a heart.
Madonna said that the Pussy Riot girls were paying too high a price for what they did and she hoped they would be set free. She also said she wanted peace, freedom and talent to reign the world.
