ZERKALNY, Leningrad region, August 8 (Itar-Tass) —— A decision to deter the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia was balanced and well considered, President Vladimir Putin said in comment on the opinion of ex-General Staff Chief Yuri Baluyevsky that “Russia lost the first day of that war because of indecisiveness.”
A decision to use military force is extremely serious, “because it starts hostilities and people die. One needs to think before making such decisions,” Putin said.
Journalists asked whether the thinking took long. “About three days,” Putin replied.
