Lost telecom satellite Telkom-3 insured in RF insurance companies

The total sum of insurance reached 185 million roubles

MOSCOW, August 7 (Itar-Tass) —— The lost telecommunication satellite Telkom-3, which was produced in Russia on the order from the Indonesian company, was insured in several Russian insurance companies, a source in the AlfaStrakhovanie insurance company said on Tuesday.

“AlfaStrakhovanie insured the proprietary rights of the satellite producer Information Satellite Systems named after Academician Reshetnev with the sum of insurance reaching 7.5 million dollars,” the source said. The source added that the abortive launch is “apparently an insurance event,” but the official conclusion can be made only after getting the required information from the insurance company. AlfaStrakhovanie specialists are keeping in touch with the client, the company’s source said.

Meanwhile, along with several other Russian insurance companies AlfaStrakhovanie insured the proprietary interests of the Indonesian telecommunication operator PTT, on the order of which the satellite Telkom-3 was produced. “A greater part of the risk insured was placed on the international insurance market. The total sum of insurance reached 185 million roubles,” the company’s source underlined.
