MOSCOW, August 7 (Itar-Tass) — Madonna on Tuesday will perform a sole concert in Moscow. The US pop singer’s concert will be given at the Olympiysky sports complex.
The concert organisers told Itar-Tass that the singer arrived in Moscow several days earlier, as her visit to Russia is not limited to the performance alone. She has also officially opened her own Hard Candy Fitness Club. She said she was terribly glad that her club is opening in Moscow, as since her previous visit here the city and its residents occupy a special place in her heart.
More than 100 musicians, dancers and some 400 staff have arrived with Madonna in Russia. Her son - 11-year-old Rocco will possibly appear on the stage.
DJ Alesso from Sweden will perform in the support act. After that Madonna will perform songs from her new album MDNA – “Girls Gone Wild,” “Revolver,” “Gang Bang” and the famous hits, including “Vogue,” “Papa Don’t Preach,” and “Like a Prayer.”
Forty-four trucks carry equipment for the concert, because Madonna plans to stage a show in Moscow with a unique set design, special effects, circus acts and video installations on huge screens. “It will be a performance of the 21st century with unprecedented 3D design and innovative stage direction,” the tour organisers stressed.
The American singer will give a concert in Moscow as part of her ninth world tour for the promotion of her new album. The tour kicked off in Tel Aviv on May 29. The shows are staged in arenas, stadiums and special outdoor areas. In addition, Madonna is returning to South America and Australia where she has not performed for the past 20 years. The tour covers 26 European cities, including London, Paris, Milan, Berlin and St. Petersburg where she will sing on August 9.
Madonna’s first performance in Russia was in September 2006. Then the singer staged the “Confessions” show at the Luzhniki Stadium. There was much fuss around the concert – first problems arose with the choice of the venue for the show, then confusion with the tickets started, which, incidentally, sold out almost instantly, then unknown persons issued threats to disrupt her performance. Finally, it was held, and the Russian public was lost in admiration of the world’s super-star.
Madonna, 53, has sold over 300 million copies of albums during her career. She has seven times won the Grammy awards as one of the most famous singers in the world.
