Two policemen killed in armed attack in Dagestan

At about 13:00 Moscow time unidentified people shelled an UAZ off-road vehicle carrying local police on the Mokok-Kidero highway

MAKHACHKALA, August 6 (Itar-Tass) — Two policemen were killed and one more was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds when their police vehicle was shelled in Dagestan’s Tsuntinsky district on Monday, an officer from the republican investigative department told Tass.

He said “at about 13:00 Moscow time unidentified people shelled an UAZ off-road vehicle carrying local police on the Mokok-Kidero highway”. According to the source, two policemen – a senior sergeant and a sergeant, died of gunshot wounds instantly. Another sergeant was hospitalized with wounds.

An investigation brigade works at the site. Measures are taken to identify and detain the attackers.
