1,000 ton of water dropped on Siberia’s burning forests over 7 days

There are no threats to settlements and economic facilities in Siberia from fires

YEKATERINBURG, August 6 (Itar-Tass) — Military aircraft dropped more than 1,000 ton of water on burning forests in the Krasnoyarsk Territory over the past week, ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the Central Military District on Monday.

On the same day, the Forest Economy Department reported that the wildfire situation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was stabilizing. “There are 48 wildfires on an area of 5,618 hectares in the territory. Over the past 24 hours, nine wildfires on an area of 443 hectares were liquidated, 13 fires on an area of 1,451 hectares were localized,” a representative of the press service said.

“There are no threats to settlements and economic facilities in Siberia from fires,” the source stressed.

“Now military aircraft continue to extinguish wildfires. Today IL-76MD planes will take part in putting out wildfires in the Kezhemsky region of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Aircraft of the Defense Ministry will also be involved in liquidating wildfires in difficult-of-access regions,” the source said.
