LONDON, August 6 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian weightlifter Tatiana Kashirina, who won the Olympic silver medal in the women’s +75kg event, “is quite satisfied with her Olympic debut.”

In a tough struggle the Russian weightlifter lost only to Chinese athlete Zhou Lulu, who won the gold medal with the world record in a total weight in snatch and clean & jerk. Armenian weightlifter Hripsime Khurshudyan won the bronze medal.

“Certainly, each athlete is dreaming about the gold medal. But I am only 21 years old, and everything is just in the future for me. I lost just a kilogram to the Chinese weightlifter today and set a world record in snatch. I believe that the result is quite good,” the Russian athlete from the Moscow regional town Noginsk told Itar-Tass. “I am training very much, I am always trying to improve my results, even frequently forgetting about a mere rest,” Kashirina noted.

“As for Chinese athletes, who are competing quite perfectly not only at the current Olympics, but also at the world championships, I can say the following words: I am only happy that I am competing with very strong rivals. I have never thought whether they are from China or some other country. My main rival is the barbell. I am fighting with it,” a very beautiful and kind-minded young woman said with a smile.

Kashirina showed a total result of 332 kilograms (151 kilograms in snatch plus 181 kilograms in clean & jerk). The gold winner Zhou Lulu lifted a total weight of 333 kilograms (146 kilograms plus 187 kilograms), the bronze medallist Hripsime Khurshudyan – 294 kilograms (128 kilograms plus 166 kilograms).
