MOSCOW, August 5 (Itar-Tass) —— About 40 terrorist and extremist crimes were committed in Moscow in the first half of this year, Moscow Prosecutor Sergei Kudeneyev said at the Friday meeting of the city prosecutor’s office board, which summed up results of the first half of this year.
“The city registered 39 terrorist and extremist crimes in January-June,” he said. Twenty-three criminal cases of 38 defendants were handed over to courts, he added.
Moscow prosecutors held 1,562 verifications in the supervision over the fulfillment of laws on federal security, inter-ethnic relations and suppression of extremism. A total of 1,878 violations were exposed, which was 29% more than last year. Administrative charges were brought against 156 persons, and 352 officials faced disciplinary punishment.
