KIEV, August 5 (Itar-Tass) —— A criminal case has been opened in the Crimea over a collision of vessels, which killed a Russian tourist, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported on Sunday. It said the case was opened on the counts of a breach of traffic safety rules.
The accident happened off Sudak on Saturday. A local businessman – 24-year-old resident of Sudak – was giving a ride to 19 tourists aboard his cutter 100 meters away from the shore. He lost control of the cutter and collided with a tourist boat which had no passengers aboard. A 48-year-old woman from Russia died in the collision. Fourteen passengers, among them seven foreigners, were injured. Doctors said the injuries of six people were serious.
