TVER, August 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Tver policemen on Saturday detained a man suspected of killing five-year-old Bogdan Prakhov in the Vladimir Region's Petushki district, a regional police department source told Itar-Tass.
The detained man is a previously convicted resident of Chita.
An investigation and examinations of experts are underway, the source said.
Until the DNA examination results are received, it is early to say exactly, he noted.
The Russian Investigative Committee's spokesman Vladimir Markin confirmed the information about the detention,
The suspect is detained in Tver. He gave himself up. An investigation is underway to check whether it was him who committed the crime. Examinations and other investigation work are underway, and only when the examinations confirm it, it is possible to say whether he committed the crime, Markin noted.
"We officially confirm the fact that the suspect is detained by criminal investigation department officers. It is a 39-year-old native of the Amur Region, a department press centre source said on Saturday.
The detained man was previously convicted of murder and was released from the prison recently, the source said.
On June 19, an unknown man abducted the boy in the area of the Sad Mir country houses on the outskirts of the village of Gribovo, the Petushki district.
