MOSCOW, August 3 (Itar-Tass) — The crime rate has risen a little in Moscow, the city's Prosecutor Sergei Kudeneyev said on Friday.

Over the past six months, the number of registered crimes increased by 0.7 percent, he told the meeting of the city prosecutor's office, which summed up the results of the work for the first half of this year.

The number of theft cases increased by four percent. Thefts account for more than half of all the registered crimes. The number of fraud cases also rose by 14 percent.

At the same time, the number of murders and intentional infliction of bodily harm that caused death decreased by 12 and 15 percent, and the number of rapes decreased by almost 20 percent, the prosecutor said.
