MOSCOW, August 2 (Itar-Tass) — The government is allocating an additional 4.5 billion roubles for the construction of new housing and river clearing in the Krasnodar Territory, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday. "Another two government instructions are to be added to the earlier decision to support the flood victims, allocating 4.5 billion roubles worth of subsidies to the Krasnodar Territory and another 320-million-rouble subsidy," Medvedev said.

The money will be used for housing construction to compensate for lost homes, overhaul the damaged houses and fund certain works to clear riverbeds.

The premier drew attention to the fact that new housing construction in the area had begun on Wednesday, according to schedule. "The main task now is not only to build quality housing, but also meet the initially announced deadlines, so the people get new comfortable housing by mid-November," Medvedev added.
